Photographers Embrace NFTs
As we continue to investigate what is selling on NFT platforms, we have noticed that a greater number of photographers are entering the market and gaining popularity. Most have been working in photographic arts for years and are discovering the ability to invent new kinds of images and expose themselves and their work to a much broader audience than ever before. Many of the artists are finding that the internet is a powerful tool, as followers give feedback, support, and share in a community style. Now artists can be discovered from any country, large or small. Today, we highlight a few favorites.
Flora Borsi
Flora Borsi is an artist from Budapest, Hungary who’s incredibly thought-provoking self-portraits have put her on the Forbes’ 30 under 30 list. Flora is the subject in each of her photographs and her compositions are rich with meaning and symbolism but provoke questioning. She focuses on themes of identity, relationships, and dreams which conjure emotions from lust and desire to despair and loss. “Her work often features the female body, and she plays with hiding and revealing the eyes or face to leave only the feminine form, exploring questions of female representation and the relationship between body and self.” Many of her creations are manipulated on photoshop and digitized to incorporate movement, find her work on SuperRare and click here to watch some of her clips. She is original and inspiring!
Ted Chin
Ted Chin is a digital artist and photographer from Taiwan, now based in San Francisco. He is renowned for his ability to combine photography and photoshop to create surreal fantasy worlds that inspire childlike wonder and awe. He produces works for countless clients across the globe and has been named Adobe Photoshop’s splash screen cover artist 2021.
Cath Simard
Cath Simard was born in Quebec and now is settled in the Canadian Rockies. She is a unique landscape photographer, digital artist, and educator. Her passion for the outdoors and wilderness is beautifully captured in iconic composite images. Through her lens, she explores the endless possibilities that nature provides and produces a style that is instantly recognizable. She explains that pushing herself physically and mentally has a way of clearing her mind. Cath states: “Pairing physical and mental exhaustion with being alone in the wilderness helps me eliminate the outside noise, gain clarity about who I am and therefore create art that is a better representation of myself.” She continues, “When I’m in these hard-to-reach and often dangerous places, I end up with a high level of respect for life. It’s incredibly humbling to be somewhere and know that your life could end in a second with a single footstep. It makes me realize how fragile and precious life is and it inspires me to create pieces that convey these emotions.” Her work has been shared millions of times on social media and featured in many publications including Sony Alpha Universe, Art of Visuals, and Patagon Journal.
Ashraful Arefin
Ashraful Arefin is a Fine Art Photographer based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Ashraful captures beauty and emotion within his camera frame. He states: “My works are an expression of personal experiences and realizations, combined with artist’s imagination and creative storytelling. Often whimsical, with a dreamy feel, yet the elements are utterly taken from real life. I create a moment which allows the viewers to see the usual world as a place to dream, to appreciate the simple beauties around us. There’s always an endeavor to deliver a positive vibe to viewers, to remind that beauty still remains in this earth.”
