Artists to Watch & WhIsBe's Vandalz Drop June 6
Here’s a look at this week’s Artists to Watch:
Iris Pearlman’s Picks:
@revrart:
Joakim Arver is a generative artist based in Gothenburg, Sweden who has always been interested in what’s behind the intelligent artificial mind and explores the convergence of AI and digital art. His generative optical illusions are a clear expression of his love for sci-fi that are not only vibrant but full of imagination, depth, and creativity. His artistic explorations take the viewer on a voyage through time, space and new dimensions. Find him on Foundation, Opensea and others.
@line_censor
Kiatanan Lamchan is a Thai painter who is inspired by temple murals found in Thailand. His artwork reflects his thoughts and feelings about Thai society, both positive and negative, as well as Buddhist teachings that he has come to believe in. The majority of his artwork is made up of a variety of semi-realistic cartoon scenes, divided into portions that depict events from the past, present, and future. Kiatanan has recently entered the NFT world and offers his work on SuperRare among others.
@berylbilici
Beryl Bilici is a self-taught 3D character design and animation artist from Izmir, Turkey currently residing in Istanbul. Beryl aspires to create everything she observes and contemplates in her mind onto a digital canvas. Her artwork serves as a window into her fantasy world, allowing visitors to peer in from the outside. She creates new bodies and universes in her fantastical domain of imagination. Find her art on Nifty Gateway, Foundation, Makersplace and others.
WhIsBe’s Vandalz Collection:
WhIsBe is a New York City based street artist noted for both his street and fine art, but his identity remains a mystery. Andy Warhol’s commercial photography and Jean Michel Basquiat’s disruption of public space inspired WhISBe in his desire to communicate his message to a wide audience. WhIsBe’s “Vandal Gummy” has been taking over the world for the last 10 years and can be found in public collections and museums worldwide, making him one of the most successful artists to cross over into the NFT space.
Taking inspiration from WhIsBe’s own life experience, the original Vandal Gummy signified lost innocence and youth, while the date on the plaque represented a turning point and an opportunity to do better. On June 6th, his Vandalz collection will launch and his burn/swap/reveal will kickoff. The collection boasts 11,111 Vandalz with recognizable traits. It is his intention that each individual Vandal reminds its owner of their own “life” turning point, their own experience with Karma.
I believe this is a project that should do well. To learn more, join his Twitter and Discord servers for details.
